Abstract

627,393. Children's seat attachment for cycles. SACKVILLE, Ltd., and LAWSON, E. A. Sept. 11, 1947, No. 24918. [Class 136 (i)] A front-facing additional seat for a cycle comprises suspension members 2 adapted to hook onto a cycle handle bar 14 and a seat 1 attached to the rear of the members and adapted to be supported by a cycle steering stem 15 or column 16. The fore portion of the seat 1 is connected to the members 2 by two lugs 4 clamped at 5 to the members 2 and forming extensions of two channel members 6 clamped to the underside of the seat. The members 2 are provided with hooks 3 lined at the underside with india-rubber or other non-metallic strip. A lateral strap 7 having an arcuate seating 8 is clamped to the members 2 by the clamping means 5. Bolt holes 9 are provided in the members 2, so that the seat 1 and strap 7 can be adjusted vertically relatively to the members 2. Foot rests 12 are provided having a tongue and groove engagement with the members 2 on which they are adjustably mounted and clamped in position by bolts 13. A back rest la is supported at the upper end of a single channel member 16a extending under and clamped to the base of the seat 1. As shown, the seating 8 of the strap 7 coacts with the stem 15 but alternatively the seat 1 could abut against the steering stem.
