Abstract

591,010. Seats. HARBOROUGH CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd. (formerly HARBOROUGH AIRCRAFT CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd.), and LLOYD, F. W. Feb. 28, 1945, No. 5019. [Classes 52 (i), 52 (ii) and 52 (iv)] [Also in Group XXV] A resilient shock-absorbing mounting between a vehicle seat 2 and its supports comprises a bolt 18, Fig. 18. arranged to compress a pair of flanged rubber bushes 22 arranged between the seat and the support which may be a leg frame 16 or a wall fixing 26. The' seat comprises tubular seat and back members 3 at each side joined by spaced tubular cross members 4, 5 and a top hand rail 1. The outer side is supported on the floor of the vehicle by the leg frame 16, the bolts 18 having integral clamps 19 tightened by bolts 21 to grip the cross members 4, 5. The inner side is supported by an angle member 26 fixed to the side of the vehicle, the rubber bushes 22 being arranged between bolts 27 fixed to the horizontal flange of the angle member 26 and housings 28 carried by brackets 34, 35 welded to the seat frame 2. The top hand rail 1 and the side frames 3 are of oval section tubing, the top member fitting slidably in the side frames and being secured by a set screw 8. Grab plates 10 are welded at the corners of the top rail. The back squab 12 is fixed to lugs 11 welded to the frame. and the seat cushion 14 is bolted to members 13 fixed between the tubes 4, 5. Each clamp 19 comprises a jaw 19a integral with the head of the bolt 18 and a loose jaw 19b tightened by the bolt 21. The seat may be supported at each side by the leg frames 16. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 274,216, [Class 52 (ii)], 434,060, 494,130 and 554,802.
