Abstract

806,242. Framing members; partitions. AUSTIN, L. M. May 9, 1956 [May 11, 1955], No. 13609/55. Classes 20(2) and 20(4) [Also in Group XXXVII] A strut or framing member comprises a pair of parallel rolled channel sections 1, Fig. 1, or a pair of rolled angle sections 6. Fig. 3, spaced apart back to back to provide a continuous slot therebetween and secured together by bolts 2, 7 respectively, passing between the sections and through flanged plates 3, and 8, 9 respectively which hold the sections against separation. The struts may be connected together end-toend by using the plates 3 as fishplates. A T-joint between struts may be made by means of an accessory 5, Fig. 8. A hinged joint may be made by means of the accessory shown in Fig. 12. Other accessories, Figs. 10, 11 (not shown) are provided for connecting the struts together in various other ways. Struts according to the invention are applicable to switchgear frames, conveyer frames and frames for paritioning. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 774,705 [Group XXXVII].
