[Also in Group XXV] Mine roof-support sections 1, 2 are secured together in overlapping, or in end-to-end relationship, by a clamping sleeve comprising parts 5, 6 bolted together in such a way that forces applied at the bolts on each side of the sections, are equalized. This is effected by the provision of an arcuate bearing surface, either on a separate member 15, or on one or both sleeve parts 9a, 10, Fig. 6. Washers with concave surfaces may be used on the bolts, which bolts, as shown in Fig. 6, may be connected by an integral stirrup. The lower sleeve part 6 may be arched as at 17 or need only abut the support sections at the side flanges 3 so as to allow limited movement of the sleeve parts in equalizing the forces on the bolts.
