Abstract

619,228. Valve generating circuits. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. April 30, 1946, No. 12976. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1942. [Class 40 (vi)] An increase in the efficiency of push-pull connected oscillator using an A.C. anode supply connected to the valves in antiphase is obtained by suppressing the grid current of each valve during the half-cycle when the corresponding anode is negative. Fig. 2 shows an oscillator in which the grid coils 3 and 4 are coupled through the respective inter-electrode capacitance to anode coils 6 and 7. Coils 3 and 4 are preferably arranged to have no mutual coupling. The A.C. supply is fed to the anodes through transformer 9 and also in the same phase through transformer 15 to the grids. Alternatively, valves such as diodes or triodes may be used for the grid leaks and their impedance varied by means of the voltage obtained from transformer 15. In another arrangement, Fig. 4, the bias voltage for suppressing grid current is obtained from resistors 23 and 24 inserted in series with the anode circuits. Specifications 177,269 and 184,216, [both in Class 40 (v)], are referred to.
