554,805. Frequency changing. ARNOLD, J. C. (Tyler Co., W. S.). July 22, 1942, No. 10237. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] Means for energizing a load 2 such as the operating coil of a vibrating screen with impulses of lower frequency than that of the A.C. supply 1, 2 comprises a grid-controlled valve 3 in series with the load the grid being energized by the output of a thermionic valve oscillator producing impulses of a frequency which is a sub-multiple of the supply frequency. The oscillator comprises a valve 4 supplied with plate current from a rectifier 5 through a smoothing arrangement 24, 25, 28 and variable resistance 21. The grid and anode circuits are coupled by a transformer 20 and condenser 26, and the grid circuits of both the oscillator valve 4 and load circuit control valve 3 are connected across a condenser 27 and resistance 23. Adjustment of the frequency of the impulses produced by the oscillator is effected by selection of the magnitude of the condenser 26 and adjustment of resistance 21.
