Abstract
475,048. Generating circuits using vacuum apparatus. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and FORMAN, R. J. H. May 11, 1936, Nos. 13303 and 13304. [Class 40 (v)] A split-anode magnetron oscillation-generator, in which variation of frequency due to variation in magnetic field and anode voltage is prevented by operating the magnetron in the dynatron condition and supplying the field current and anode voltage from the same source, is used to control a magnetron modulator. Small changes in field current and anode voltage, due to changes in the supply voltage, have, under suitable conditions, opposite effects on the frequency. The split-anode magnetron 1 oscillates in the dynatron condition and has its field coil 4 and anode voltage supplied from the same source S, S. The supply may be roughly stabilized by means of a barretter. The magnetron 1 is interconnected with a modulating magnetron 2 which feeds Lecher wires 3 and receives modulation current through terminals M, M. The frequency-stabilized magnetron 1 may be of relatively low power. Its output may be applied to the cathode circuit of the modulating magnetron 2, in which case grid modulation is adopted; or to the grid, in which case either grid or series modulation is adopted.
