Abstract

618,840. Pivots. WILKES, BERGER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and BEISHON, A. R. Nov. 15, 1946, No. 33950. [Class 65 (ii)] A pivot for a mirror or the like comprises a frustoconical housing 18 formed in a bulge 17 in a member connected to the mirror 11, a frusto-conical plug 20 fitting in the housing and connected to the frame member 50 supporting the mirror, and a retaining member 22 holding the parts 18, 20 together. Preferably, as shown; the member is integral with an attachment plate, the plug 20 is integral with another attachment member 19 which slides into a socket member 42 in the usual fashion, and the retaining member 22 is acted on by a spring washer 30 to press the parts together and has a frusto-conical head fitting in the plug, the member 22 being held against rotation with'the housing 18 so that both surfaces of the plug are engaged by parts moving relatively to them. In the form shown the stem of the member 22 is square and fits in a corresponding hole in the spring washer 30, which has lugs fitting in notches in the housing bulge 17.
