Abstract
617,301. Starting oil engines. C.A.V., Ltd., and NICOLLS, W. E. W. Sept. 25, 1946, No. 28656. [Class 7 (iii)] The movement of the regulating rack 2 of a fuel injection pump in a direction to increase delivery is limited by the end of an adjustable screw 3, carried by the rack, engaging a stop 11 pivoted on a stud 7 and adjusted by a screw 10. To permit excess fuel to be delivered at starting, a second stop 12 is pivoted in a forked portion of the stop 11 so that when the stop 11 is depressed by a button 18 against the spring 16, the screw 3 is in alignment with the stop 12 which is retained in this position by being pressed by a spring 13 into a groove 15 on the stud 7. When the screw 3 engages the stop 12, the latter is disengaged from the groove 15 and eventually the spring 16 returns the stop 11 to its normal position.
