Abstract

616,746. Regulating reciprocating pumps. DISTILLERS CO., Ltd., and PHILIP, T. B. Sept. 11, 1946, No. 27280. [Class 102 (i)] In a double-acting reciprocating pump for fluids, the delivery is regulated by means of a relief valve 5 connected by pipes 8 to both zones in the pump which are alternately under pressure and suction, the period of the delivery stroke of the pump being controlled by adjustable means driven by means connected with the pump-driving mechanism. The pipes 8 may be vented to a sump or to the pump inlet pipe 9. The valve 5 is closed by a spring 11 and is opened, under the control of an adjustable spindle 7, by means of a lever 12 operated by a cam or eccentric 6 driven by the driving shaft of the pump.
