Abstract
616,222. Clutches. BREGUET, L. Aug. 30, 1946, No. 26126. Convention date, Oct. 29, 1945. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] In a helicopter with coaxial contra-driven rotors, the latter are driven by an engine 1 through a disc clutch 2, 3 and a free-wheel clutch 9, a cardan coupling 10, and a pair of bevel pinions 11, 13 meshing with crown-wheels 12, 14 attached to the respective rotor shafts. The disc clutch embodies weak clutching springs 7 housed in centrifugal locking weights 4, and the clutch may be released by rods passing through members 5 operated by the weights 4. The free-wheel clutch 9, which is of the roller type, is integral with the driven member 3 of the main clutch.
