615,496. Control of D.C. motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 18, 1946, No. 21487. Convention date, Oct. 14, 1940. [Class 38 (iii)] Regenerative braking.-A compounded motor A for traction or other purposes has a preponderating series field winding B and a light shunt field winding C with means, such as a rheostat G1, G2 ; H1, H2, for gradually reversing the shunt excitation so that, at maximum speed, the motor is differentially compounded and rectifier means D1, wholly or partially to prevent the passage of regenerated current through the series field winding. Alternative rectifier arrangements are described.
