Abstract
615,374. Grates for closed stoves. HARTLEY, A. J. Aug. 3, 1946, No. 23199. [Class 126] [Also in Group XII] A stove has a firebottom comprising a cast iron grid carried on a steel cradle mounted below the firebox, held releasably in a horizontal position from which it may be lowered hingedly for the discharge of the ashes and clinker. A cast iron grate 14 rests on a steel cradle 15 bearing back and front lugs 16 which are held by pins 17 to two pairs of lugs 11, 13 projecting downwards from the firebox 10 into the ashbox 12. On removing the front pin 17, the grate may be lowered on the back pin 17 for the removal of ashes. The front lug 16 of the cradle 15 may be provided with a handle 16a which may project outside the stove (not shown) in which case front lugs 13 may be formed outside the ashbox 12. In a forced draught stove the front supporting pin 17 may be reached through a removable door 20 of the ashbox 12 which may be formed in two halves. The grate 14 may be formed in two parts.
