Abstract
614,834. Door checks. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and SHAW, B. Aug. 2, 1946, No. 23143. [Class 65 (i)]. A check for the fall-down door 2 of an oven 1 comprises a crank 8 adapted to be rotated about the hinge axis 3 with movement of the door, and a link bar 12 positioned in a plane normal to the said axis and connected at its respective ends to the crank and a tension spring 14. The bar is supported by a bolt 11 which passes through a slot 15 in the bar and is fixed in a bracket 10. Friction discs 16 mounted on the bolt and bearing on the bar provide braking means for the latter. The arrangement is such that the longitudinal movement of the bar, and hence the retarding force, increases to a maximum as the door approaches its open position (shown in chain lines).
