Abstract

929,094. Stays. WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd. Jan. 3, 1962 [Jan. 13, 1961], No. 1472/61. Class 65 (1). A stay device for a vehicle or other door 10 comprises an arm 12 pivotally connected at one end to the supporting structure 11 and at least one link 15 pivotally connected at one end to the door and slidably connected at its other end to a transverse projection 14 on the other end of the arm, resilient means 19 being provided to urge the projection in a direction towards the pivotally connected end of the link so that as the door is being opened the projection first engages a cam surface 20 on a bracket 17 secured to the door, whereby the resilient means is stressed to check the opening movement, and then enters a recess 21 in the bracket to hold the door releasably in the fully open position. Alternatively the link and bracket may be attached to the supporting structure and the arm pivoted to the door. Preferably the bracket is formed with two spaced parallel sides between which the arm 12 extends, and the projection 14 comprises a pin which extends on both sides of the arm and passes through slots 16 in a pair of links 15 pivoted on a pin 18 mounted in the bracket. Two springs 19 are hooked over the ends of the pins 14 and 18.
