Abstract

613,636. Resilient mountings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and RUSSELL, R. C. H. June 22, 1946, No. 18782. [Class 108 (iii)] A resilient mouriting comprises a block of rubber 6 connected between a load-carrying member 7a and a member 5a upstanding from a base-plate 5, the rubber block being in shear when load is applied in either of two directions mutually at right-angles, and the upstanding member being substantially rigid in those two directions and torsionally resilient in a third direction at right-angles thereto. The base plate 5 may have two upstanding members 5a, each of which carries an extension arm 5b to which is bonded the outer end of a rubber block 6 ; the inner ends of both rubber blocks are bonded to the opposite sides of the load-carrying plate 7a which is of angle form. The base 5, torsion strips 5a and arms 5b may be made of spring steel, or the base 5a and arms 5b may be rigid, only the torsion straps then being of spring steel. The sections and moduli of the torsion strips 5a and resilient blocks 6 are so chosen that the mounting has equal deformations under equal deflectory forces in any direction.
