Abstract
697,449. Resilient mountings. SOC. APPLICAZIONI GOMMA ANTIVIBRANTI S.A.G.A. SOC. PER AZIONI. April 25, 1952 [May 31, 1951], No. 10516/52. Class 108 (iii). A resilient mounting comprises a mass of resilient material A located between two mutually-opposed abutment surfaces 3, 4 rigid with the supported member 1, the supporting member 2 being rigid with a member 8 having a portion 9 which is embedded in the mass A so as to divide it into a main portion 14, and a rebound cushioning portion 15. The shape and position of the mass A in relation to the shape and position of the abutment surfaces 3, 4 and the portion 9 are such, that under no load whatever, both portions 14, 15 are under precompression. The stress-strain characteristic of the mounting, Fig. 4 (not shown), is linear for a limited extent on either side of a point corresponding to the static load. The rate increases at either end of each linear portion. The member 1, as shown, is the. engine to be supported by a motor vehicle chassis 2. The invention may also be applied to machinery supports.
