Abstract

1281690 Resilient mountings DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 23 Oct 1969 [24 Oct 1968] 50448/68 Heading F2S A resilient mounting 1 for a vehicle engine comprises a coil spring 12 acting between abutment members 3 and 11, a rigid sleeve 2 and an elastomeric lining 6 which extends between the spring and the abutment member 3. The lining frictionally damps the vibration of the coil spring, and the rigid sleeve restricts movement of the spring in any direction perpendicular to its axis. The abutment member 3 may be formed integral with the sleeve 2, and the abutment member 11 may be a flange on a tubular member 9 which locates the spring and serves as a bolt-hole for attaching a vehicle engine to be mounted. A portion 7 of the lining 6 may extend between the abutment member 3 and a flange 10 on the member 9 to form a rebound stop, and a portion 8 underlies a flange 4 of the sleeve 2 to act as a bump stop.
