613,140. G r i n d i n g - m i l l s ; mixing- machines. PAYS, A. March 1, 1946, No. 6468. Convention date, March 12, 1945. [Classes 59 and 86] In a mill for grinding cereals having a feeding hopper 1, a distributor 3 and a set of crushing cylinders 4, 5 driven at different speeds and with surfaces formed with intermeshing annular corrugations of trapezoidal cross-section, the cylinders 4, 5 are journalled in uprights 7 vertically slotted at 13 by whose resiliency the cylinder journals can be brought closer together, washers 11 and bolts 12 being used for adjusting the spacing. As shown, Fig. 3, the distributor 3, which is oscillated by means of a slider 9 and eccentric knob 10, is provided with teeth 15 to facilitate uniform distribution between the cylinders. The driving cylinder 4 is made of close-grained metal and rotates at a higher speed than the other cylinder 5 which is made of porous material. Scrapers 6 detach the material from the cylinders. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a mixer, Fig. 5 (Cancelled), in which a pinion 20 operated by a handle 21 drives a pinion 19 meshing with a fixed teethed crown 16 causing a bent-arm 18 to revolve both on itself and around the central axis. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
