637,015. Ring and roller mills. SOC. ANON. MACCHINE PER L'INDUSTRIA DOLCIARIA CARLE & MONTANARI. Feb. 21, 1947, No. 5186. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1945. [Class 59] A ring mill for the final mixing and grinding of chocolate comprises two or more rollers keyed on a rotating shaft, and a conical envelope inside which the rollers move whilst the chocolate mass is fed between the envelope and rollers by means of paddles &c. There is provided a stationary container 1 with a heating space 2, in which a conical envelope 4 having a surface 4a which may be granite is rotated by means of a crown wheel 5. The crown wheel 5 is connected to the envelope 4 by means of rods 10 which carry paddles 12 at the bottom. The shafts 17 of conical rollers 16 are pivoted at the bottom of a central driven shaft 13. The upper ends 17b of these shafts are mounted to slide radially against adjustable springs 22. A paddle 14 secured to the shaft 13 scrapes the bottom of the container, and a pair of paddles 28 also fixed to the shaft 13 directs the chocolate mass through the lower opening of the cone envelope and then between the working surfaces.
