Abstract
610,669. Torsion springs. SALTER & CO., Ltd., G., and BACHE, J. K. April 13, 1946, No. 11391. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVII] A valve spring for an internal-combustion engine comprises a laminated torsion bar composed of a plurality of superimposed spring leaves 5, fixed at one end and carrying at the other end a rocker-arm 7 mounted on a pivot 12. In Fig. 3 the laminations 5 are separated by distance pieces 14, fixed in recesses 9, 15, by cover plates 10, 16. The laminations 5 may be in contact without the distance pieces 14. In Fig. 7 the ends of the bar are held in conical recesses 20 by wedges 21 forced in by cover plates 22.
