Abstract

609,738. Building-blocks. SULLEY, G. A. Nov. 26, 1945, No. 31785. [Class 87(i)] A hollow building-block, which may be of glass, has side walls 1, 2 connected by partitions 3 forming internal cavities 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. The cavities 4 and 8, when two bricks are placed end to end, form a cavity similar to 6. The top surface is provided with edge rebates and the bottom with a recess so that the blocks are interfitting vertically. The rebates and recesses are of such a size that a mortar groove is formed between them. The inner partitions of the block may have an upstanding flange adapted to fit into rebates in the end partitions to lock the blocks in half bond. The cavities 6 and 4 and 8 are filled with grouting to form supporting pillars. L-shaped and T-shaped blocks are described for corners and partition walls. Holes 22 may be provided in one side wall of the block for plugs for securing sheet material for internal decoration. The inner wall 1 of the block may end with the end partitions 3 in order to receive a floor beam.
