Abstract

609,308. Walls, BRITTENDEN, J. E., and PARKINSON & CO., Ltd., Sir L. March 15, 1945, No. 6562. [Classes 20(iv) and 87(i)] A wall comprises pre-formed slabs 1 of reinforced concrete or similar material bolted together and having inwardly directed vertical flanges 4 with rebates 5 on the outsides in which inserts 6 of nailable material (for fixing an inner wall 15) are held, through which pass the bolts 7, and pre-formed corner posts 10 having rebates 11 on two sides at right angles at the inside corner so that further nailable inserts 12 are held between these sides and the slab flanges 4, the posts carrying threaded sleeves 13 which receive screws 14 clamping the slabs to the posts. The slabs may be flanged on all four sides and of storey height and timber plates, which support the roof, may be bolted to the top flange with flashing material interposed. The bottom flange may be grooved to receive a projection on a supporting sill unit which rests on a concrete foundation covered with waterproof jointing material extending up to floor level.
