Abstract

The modules can be easily transported by rail or road and are quickly joined together to give a variety of layouts. The basic module is a reinforced concrete structure, cast in a single piece and having a floor, a vertical wall, a ceiling and two struts forming hearing points. Whilst at the factory, the module is equipped with first and second fixings, external facings and insulation. For moving and lifting purposes, the modules, which weigh approximately 8 tonnes, are fastened under swinging beams using eye bolts screwed into sleeves which are welded to the steel reinforcements at the four upper corners. Once on site, the modules are placed on top of foundations and locked together.
