Abstract
608,899. Load-handling machines. YEOMANS, P. A. Feb. 28, 1946, No. 6295. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1945. [Class 78 (iii)] An appliance for loading a truck with earth comprises a tractor 3 having a scoop 5 pivotally mounted upon the front of a framing consisting of a pair of side beams 11 extending from and pivoted to the rear of the tractor and having their outer ends connected together and carrying strut connections 12 to the scoop 5, a mounting for sheaves 13 between the ends of the side beams, an abutment 23 carried upon the upper face of each side beam adjacent its outer end, and a jib 51 arranged at each side of the tractor above each side beam and pivoted at the beam pivotal end to an extension 15A and carrying sheaves 16 between its outer ends in line with sheaves 13, there being a pair of rests 18 carried on the tractor framing 19 for the jibs 15 to abut when in the lowest position, a pair of rear posts 20 fast to the tractor and also carrying sheaves 21 in line with sheaves 13 and 16, and cable means 26 from a winch 27 reeved about the sheaves 13, 16 and 21. A shock-absorbing device 24 is carried upon the side framing 19 forwardly of the posts 20 for the jib 15 to contact when in the elevated position. The scoop has a hinged rear door 6 with a closure latch arm 7 at one or both sides engaging a latch pin 8. The door is closed when a projection 9 extending from the door contacts a bar 25.
