Abstract

1,201,728. Grab bucket loaders. H. G. CROSS. 27 Aug., 1968, No. 40831/68. Heading E1F. In a loader in which a clamshell grab 15 is dependent from the cylinder 16 of an hydraulically actuatable motor controlling opening and closing of the jaws of grab, the cylinder is pivoted between its ends at 27 on the free end of a vertically swingable boom 13 mounted on a sub frame 12 carried by a vehicle 11 and is also connected at its upper end to a linkage 24, 25, 26. This linkage is so connected to the sub frame and is of such a configuration that, as the boom is raised or lowered, the cylinder is kept at a chosen angle in the plane in which the boom is being moved. A jack 26 forming part of the linkage allows of variation of the chosen angle.
