Abstract

1460518 Excavators POCLAIN 25 June 1974 [17 July 1973] 28118/74 Heading E1F An excavator bucket comprises a concave blade 6 and sides 8, 9 pivotally mounted on the blade by torsion bars 17, 18. As the leading edge 7a of the blade penetrates the earth, the sides 8, 9 are pivoted rearwardly along flanges 16a, 16b until stops 15a, 15b engage the blade 6. The bucket is then raised to allow the sides to return to their original position due to the return force of the torsion bars. The torsion bars may be replaced by spiral laminae coiled around the pivot spindles or by a jack connected between the sides and the blade or the sides and a part of the excavator.
