Abstract

1278513 Excavators RUSTON-BUCYRUS Ltd 18 Sept 1969 [28 Oct 1968] 45956/69 Heading E1F An excavator or the like has a counterweight 13 suspended by members 17 from one end of a frame 4 which pivotally supports at its other end a boom 6 whereby the boom can be used for pressing against the ground and so lifting the associated end of the frame to cause the counterweight to swing relative to the frame and be deposited on a crib 31. The members 17 may be turnbuckles or hydraulic rams, and the counterweight may be bolted on the frame when the excavator or the like is in operation. Centring plugs on the frame may engage corresponding holes in the counterweight to locate the latter.
