[Class 141] A foundation garment or corset has a .back panel built up of an inelastic section 12, an elastic section 15 and an inelastic section' 14, the sections having the shape shown and being united by seams 12a, 14a, so that the sections 12 and 14 cling to the body while the section 15 yields to bending or twisting movements. A fulllength lining 8 of inelastic material with bones 9 is secured within the back panel by a seam 18 and by side seams 19 extending up only slightly above the side junctions of the sections 14, 15, so that the lining is free from the sections 14, 15 and does not impede their stretching. The section 15 is stretchable vertically, the front panel 5 of the corset is inelastic, and the side panels 6 preferably of two-way stretch material.
