[Class 23] Liquid is extracted from packages of yarn 10, arranged on a rotating base 12, and centrifugal action on weights 33 causes downward pressure on the upper ends of the packages through covers 16. Latches 38 prevent the packages from rising on their spindles 14. The downward pressure is stated to re-shape the end of each package if such end has previously bulged or being otherwise deformed during the dyeing operation. Each package 10 is mounted in a receptacle 11 which has holes 22 provided on the outer half of its circumference. The receptacle, which has drain holes 21, is spaced from the base 12 by a spacer 18. Arms 30, carrying weights 33, are pivoted at 31 to brackets 32 and cause downward pressure on covers 16 through pivots 28 mounted on extensions 26. Two latch levers 34, for each unit, are pivoted at 28 and bear downwards on a tube 15 extending from the cover 16. If a cover 16 tends to rise, the movement is transmitted to a pair of latch bell cranks 40 with noses 38 which co-act with the lower curved parts of levers 34 which have a pin 42 resting on a stop 37. A flat or groove 43 permits the insertion of a wire, or the like, which can be hooked into a perforation of the package tube which is thus lifted out.
