Abstract
607,500. Piezo-electric crystals &c. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 6, 1946, No. 3747. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1945. [Class 40 (v)] A quartz element 1 having a frequency of 50-250 k.c. in a face shear mode, and a low temperature coefficient of frequency, is cut from the natural crystal in a plane 4 which cuts the X, Y plane at an angle of 30 degrees (and thus includes a Y axis) and which is inclined to the Z axis at an angle in the range 45-60 degrees. The element 1 is rectangular and has its length dimension in either of two directions at an.angle of 45 degrees to the intersection of the crystal plane 4 and the X, Y plane. For particular values of the orientation angles, corresponding values of the ratio W/L. of the width to the length of the crystal are chosen to give a low temperature coefficient.
