Abstract
607,089. Fluid-actuated valves. CAMPBELL, C., and MAcLENNAN, A. M. Jan. 25, 1946, No. 2509. [Class 135] A venting valve, e.g. for an aircraft pressurised fuel tank, comprises an inlet 3 communicating with the tank, an outlet 5 and a balance pipe connection 10 communicating with the atmosphere, and a rubber or synthetic rubber valve disc 17, spring-loaded to prevent the tank pressure exceeding a predetermined value and adapted to be lifted from its annular seat by a diaphragm 13 when the tank pressure - exceeds the predetermined value, and to be forced partially past the seating and to distort to allow air to pass into the tank, when the tank pressure falls below atmospheric. A projecting lip 29 may be provided on the valve disc 17 to assist in breaking up ice that may form between the disc and its seat.
