Abstract
449,931. Coupling - actuated valves. TURNER, W., Eyre Works, Sheffield. May 4, 1935, No. 13346. [Class 135] [See also Group XIX] In gauges having a part in the form of a T-piece, the cross-head of which has at each end a valve 1, 2, the third limb 14 communicating with pressure gauge, a release valve is provided which opens automatically to atmosphere when both valves are seated at the end of a test. As shown, the device is engaged with a tyre-nipple 3, the tyre valve being opened by the stem of the valve 1. The valve 2 is seated at 2b and the free end of this valve is provided with a seating 2d which closes the bore 6 of the valve 1. Upon disengaging from the tyre, the compressed air seats both valves 1, 2 and is released to the atmosphere through a port 7 communicating with the bore 6.
