Abstract
269,652. Fraser, A., and Woad, K. L. Jan. 20, 1926. Couplings, disoonnectible.-A coupling between an inflator &c. and a tyre &c. comprises a chamber a connected to the inflator by a pipe d with check valve e, and to an audible blow-off valve by a pipe b. The valve j is held to its seat by an adjustable spring k. A rod h operated by a hand-wheel &c. holds the tyre valve s open during inflation. The sleeve o for adjusting the spring k may have two stops co-operating with a fixed stop p to adjust the spring to two different pressures. In another form, the tyre nipple enters an elastic sleeve in the chamber, and the pipes d, b are connected to the interior of a hollow sliding piston which may be forced down: by a cam to compress the elastic sleeve on the nipple. The blow-off valve is arranged in a rotatable plug adapted to communicate with one or other of two ports leading respectively to a pressure gauge and to atmosphere. In another form two blow-off valves controlled by a rotatable sleeve are used.
