Abstract
606,752. Electric cables. MILDNER, R. C. Jan. 18, 1946, No. 1720. [Class 36] An air space cable comprises an inner conductor surrounded by insulation and an outer conducting sheath, the insulation consisting of highly orientated fibres of thermoplastic synthetic resin, e.g. polystyrene or polythene, consolidated by a heating process to form a matrix of solid material filled with finelydivided air spaces. The fibres are formed into a rope and lapped on the inner conductor 11 in successive layers, 12, alternately with opposite lay, and held in position by an outer conducting sheath 16.
