Abstract

651,131. Armoured cables. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. Dec. 31, 1948, No. 33660. Convention date, March 5. [Class 36] Amouring for fluid-filled electric cables laid on a slope has varying mechanical strength corresponding to the varying internal pressure in the cable. The armouring is applied in the form of strips, the number of which is varied along the length of the cable, either by varying the number of layers or by varying the number of strips in one layer, or by a combination of both methods, as shown in the Figure. One layer of armouring strips 2, 3, 4, 5 is first applied over the lead sheath 1 of a cable, and additional layers 6, 7, 8 of armouring are subsequently added, giving maximum strength at the part where the internal pressure is highest.
