606,014. Manhole frames and covers. BROAD & CO., Ltd., and RANKIN, A. M. Dec. 17, 1945, No. 34169. [Class 107] A frame 1 for a manhole or like opening is formed of flexible rolled or pressed metal, e.g. steel, of L-shape in cross-section 7, wherein a second portion 5 of L-shaped cross-section extends from the lower inner end 8 of the first L-shaped portion and is inclined so that the angle of the L, 6, is lowermost. The shoulder 8 of the L- section 7 serves as a seating for the cover 9 which is complimentary in shape to the frame, and which may also be of flexible or rigid (e.g. cast iron) material adapted to be filled with concrete &c. on the site. Suitable sealing material may be run into the groove 6 of the lower L whilst reinforcing bars 26, 26<1> may be fitted to the cover, together with openings 23 for the insertion of a key-lifter. The frame may also have anchoring lugs or feet 27.
