Abstract

611.366. Manhole covers and frames. FOWLER, H. S. April 30, 1946, No. 12939. [Class 107] A rectangular manhole cover 11 has one end 21 bevelled to seat in a complementary bevelled end of the frame 12 and is provided with two inclined side flanges 16, the deep ends of the flanges being remote from the bevelled end. When the cover slides into position on substantially complementary guides 18 provided on the frame, recesses 19 in the deep ends of the flanges engage with complementary wedge shaped projections 20 formed on the side walls of the frame, so locking the cover in position. The recisses 19 and projections 20 may enclose an angle of 45 degrees. The Provisional Specification also describes supports of substantially rectangular section extending transversely across the frame.
