Abstract

1,252,931. Engaging flanges with weather sealing. PERRY BROS (HALL GREEN) Ltd. 20 May, 1969 [28 June, 1968], No. 30859/68. Heading E2F. A hinge for a window comprises two sections. One section is in the form of a J-shaped projection 4 which extends from the window frame 2 the length of the hinge edge. The hook portion 6 of the projection 4 engages in the other section to form the hinge. The second section 7 has limbs 8, 9, 10 which define the area in which the hook of the first section engages. The second section 7 also carries a fourth limb 11 which together with the first limb 8 forms a recess of part circular cross section in which is disposed a sealing element in the form of a rod 12 of closed cell material, such as neoprene sponge. As the window is closed the outer convex surface 13 of the first section compresses the element, thereby forming a weather seal between the two sections.
