Abstract

604,617. Supports for electric lamp filaments. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1945, No. 32175. Convention date, Nov. 30. 1944. [Class 39(ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A lead-in connection to the filament of an electric lamp comprises a connecting member or wire 16 provided with screwthreads and a helically coiled end portion 17 of a filament in frictional screw - mesh engagement therewith, the part 18 of the filament immediately adjacent to the engaging portion being uncoiled and the connecting member screwed completely through the engaging portion to short circuit all its turns. In the example the screw-threads are provided on the lead-in wire 16 by fitting a closely engaging helically coiled wire 19 thereon. Alternatively, the screwthreads may be formed integrally with the supporting wire 16. The upper ends of the supporting member 16 are welded to lateral extensions of vertical lead-in wires. The invention may be applied to intermediate, non-current-carrying, supports for the filament.
