Abstract

603,933. Pipe joints. BRAME, E. Nov. 6, 1945, No. 29518. [Class 99 (i)] A pipe coupling for permitting relative angular movement between the pipes 11, 14 comprises a ball joint made up of a non- metallic (e.g. carbon), heat-resisting sleeve 1 having a spherical outer surface, and socket members 12, 15, with spherical .seats 13, 16, held in engagement with the non-metallic ball sleeve by means of the spring 17 anchored to the loose flanges 18, 19 abutting the socket members. In Fig. 2, two ball-joints are used, the seats 23, 24 and thimbles 2 forming a rigid central unit and the sockets 12, 15 being attached to the pipes; the flanges 18, 19 are here integral with the said sockets.
