603,870. Thermal release switches. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and FOXALL, H. H. Nov. 2, 1945, No. 29103. [Class 38 (v)] A short-time switch suitable for " trafficators " comprises an operating shaft b to which is fixed an insulating disc d carrying a moving contact plate e arranged to bridge two of the three fixed contacts f according to the direction in which the switch is operated, Fig. 3. Freely journalled on the shaft b is a control member j carrying bimetal pawls o one of which o<1> at a time engages a notch p in the disc. When the switch is operated, the member is carried round with the disc d and retained by ballcatches k being forced by spring n into indentations in the base m, until a heater coil q, energized over the contact e, causes the pawl o<1> to deflect, releasing the disc d which is returned by spring g to the middle off position, and another pawl o engages the notch p ready for the next operation.
