Abstract
600,482. Uniting by fusion. SOC. ANON. DES ATELIERS DE SECHERON. June 1, 1945, No. 13840. Convention date, Aug. 16, 1944. [Class 83 (iv)] A coated arc-welding electrode has the end covered with a coating of electricity conducting material which evaporates when current is applied to create an arc on bringing the end into contact with the work, by dipping or spraying the ends of a bundle of electrodes simultaneously. The ends may be coated by first baring them to the cores of the electrodes and then applying by metallisation a coating of finely granulated particles of steel, steel alloys, zinc, magnesium or aluminium and the like which are projected axially of the ends of the electrodes. Alternatively, the bared ends may be dipped in a binder such as water-glass, which contains finely granulated particles of iron.
