600,315. Fluid-actuated valves. CARVER, F. A. Oct. 3, 1944, No. 18867. [Class 135] A pressure reducing valve for domestic and like water supply systems comprises a short tube C threaded at its ends for connection in the service pipe and containing a spring- loaded externally fluted valve member d having on the side opposite the loading spring e a recess for a washer adapted to coact with an annular seat on a centrally bored partition c, the latter having a tubular extension a closed at one end and provided with arcuate ports F adapted to be closed by an openended piston b when the valve member d seats. A screw-threaded rod connects the piston b and the valve member d. The spring e may be adjustable. The valve prevents pressure impulses in the supply main building up pressure in the service pipe. The end A of the service pipe is connected to the main and the end B to a tap or the like.
