Abstract
600,285. Pulse and saw-tooth generating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. July 20, 1945, No. 18708. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1943. [Class 40 (vi)] An " edger pulse " having one edge vertical and the other curved, is generated from a rectangular input pulse by deriving a secondary pulse having a curved edge, each input pulse and the corresponding secondary pulse being applied in opposition to a mixer to produce the edger pulse. A pulse 26 fed to the grid of valve 10, Fig. 1, causes the valve to conduct and discharge capacitor 22 rapidly, the capacitor recharging exponentially after the termination of the pulse to produce the waveform 34, Fig. 2. This waveform is added to the input pulse in mixer circuit 12 to produce the sharp pulse 40 and edger pulse 42, the former being removed by the limiter 14. By limiting at the level 45, a substantially linear saw-tooth may be produced. In a modification, Fig. 5, the input pulse is integrated over resistor R and capacitor C to give the waveform 54 which is fed to the grid of valve 81, the phase-reversed input pulse 61 being fed to the grid of valve 82. By providing a common anode load resistor 90, a waveform 95 results, which by limiting at appropriate levels produces the edger pulses 95a, 95b. Specification 600,284 is referred to.
