[Class 37] The duration of an electrical pulse is determined or monitored by comparing it with the period of an oscillation, e.g., by means of a cathode ray tube. The pulse generator is connected to one pair of deflecting electrodes and the oscillation generator to the other pair, and the frequency of the oscillation generator is varied until the period of the oscillation is the same as the duration of the pulse, this being indicated by the merging of the two lines on the screen produced by the leading and trailing edges of the pulse.
