Abstract

598,287. Valve amplifying circuits. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and HUTCHINGS, E. L. April 26, 1939, No. 12359. [Class 40 (v)] In a tone control arrangement, with negative feedback to a valve V2 and positive feedback to a preceding valve V1, the frequency discriminating feedback circuit comprises a variably tapped resistance in parallel with a condenser and series resistance connected to the grid of valve V1, the variable tap being connected to the anode of valve V2. The anode of valve V2 is connected to the movable tap S of resistance R4, one end of which is connected through a resistance R3 and a volume control potentiometer R1 to the grid of a preceding valve V1. The other end of resistance R4 is connected through a condenser C2 and resistance R5 to the junction of resistances R1 and R3. When the slider S is at the left-hand end of resistance R4, the negative feedback to valve V2 through condenser Cl comprises the higher frequencies, while the low frequencies pass to the grid of V1 via resistance R3 as positive feedback. When slider S is at the right-hand end of resistance R4, there is little or no negative feedback at the higher frequencies to valve V2, while the highest frequencies pass through condenser C2 to give positive feedback to valve V1.
