Abstract
258,315. Smith, S. B. May 18, 1925. Thermionic amplifiers.-In a multi-stage thermionic amplifier suitable for operating telegraphic relays &c., an adjustable grid-bias for each of the separate valves is derived from a single common battery B3 through resistances or impedances r1, r2 arranged in parallel with the anode resistances R3. The tapping-points from the battery to the three valves t1, t2, t3 are shown at T1, T2, T3 respectively. The value of the potentiometer resistances r1, r2 should be high in comparison with the anode resistance R3, and the dividing point P leading to the grid is adjustable. A stabilizing condenser C may be connected across the anodes of the valves t1, and t3.
