Abstract
494,024. Valve amplifying circuits. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and FALKUS, A. E. May 6, 1937, No. 12911. [Class 40 (v)] In an audio-frequency amplifier in which tone correction is obtained by negative feed back, it is arranged that the ratio of feed back energy to signal strength is greatest at low volumecontrol settings so that the low and /or high frequencies are further accentuated relative to the middle frequencies at low volume. Leads 11, 14 feed back energy from the output of valve V2 to the grid circuit of valve V1, and condenser-resistance combinations 12, 13 ; 6, 7, are so arranged that the feed back voltage is diminished at low and high frequencies to produce the required tone compensation. The resistance 6 across which the feed back voltage appears has connected in series across it the volume control 5, diode load 3 and blocking condenser 4 and the bias resistance and condenser combination 15, 16. The resistances 3 and 5 represent the majority of the impedance in the loop circuit and the proportion of the voltage across resistance 6 which appears at the grid of V1 diminishes as the slider of the potentiometer 5 is moved from the minimum end. Switching means may be provided to disable at will the feed back circuit which may also be modified to produce only bass boost or top boost.
