Abstract
597,617. Well pumps. THATCHER. A. J., THATCHER, G. R., and BRIXEY, I. A. C., [trading as NEW MENDIP ENGINEERING CO.]. Aug. 24, 1945, No. 21756. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] Actuating apparatus for a bore-hole reciprocating pump comprises a crank 24 driven by worm gearing 13a, 15 and connected by a rod 26 to a cross-head 28 that is fitted with at least two pairs of roller bearings 39, 40, the connections to the rod 26 and the pump rod 34 being arranged between the pairs of bearings. The outer races of the bearings 39, 40 are arranged between two guides, each guide comprising a face 18 carried by the extension 17 of the casing and a parallel face 20 carried by a plate 19 bolted to the extension 17. A pump is actuated by the rim 49 on the worm-wheel and supplies lubricant to the gearing and to the top of the casing where it drips into a cup 50 on the cross-head.
